I thought it was an algorithm based on the number of comments and recommendations in a given amount of time, but now it think its just random.

If a moderator recommends the post, the image will get bigger. Alternatively, a mod may only recommend the image, making that bigger, but not the post itself.

If a mod reccomemds the media (a star on the pic itself) embiggen happens.

They say the thing with the mods, but I once posted a thing with 2 pictures and the second one was enlarged within 2 seconds of me hitting the post button.

I dunno if others see it but when I open a post i can see a star on the upper right of the image. I can click and "recommended media" to embiggen. How about this do a car-porn post just find a nice pic and plop it in...link here, I will share to Oppo and embiggen!

I don't see the star but that must be because I'm not a moderator. And I don't have authorship for the time being so the car porn will have to wait.
